AMS Cladding complete the UK’s first retrofit office building to meet the PassivHaus EnerPHit standard in the UK

Voreda House has been transformed from a brutalist 1960’s concrete tax office  into a stunning energy efficient masterpiece by AMS Cladding.

It is the first retrofit office building to meet the PassivHaus EnerPHit standard in the UK, with energy savings estimated at 85%, which contributes positively to the council’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and push towards carbon net zero.

The concrete panelling on the outside of the building was removed and replaced with a steel frame system.  This holds a carrying panel with stone wool insulation, which extends into the ground to avoid thermal bridging and improve the offices thermal performance and comfort. Externally, the building was clad with a lightweight dry-cassette cladding system which maintains the colour of sandstone to retain thecharacter of the conservation area.

The pre-cast concrete roof was overlaid with insulation and wrapped in a single ply membrane which, when combined with the wall insulation, achieves an overall U-Value of 0.148W/M2K.
